Now that the Nebraska Legislative session has wrapped up for another year, First District State Senator Dan Watermeier takes a look back at the session that started in January. The Syracuse area farmer says some major issues were not passed including expansion of Medicaid, repeal of the motorcycle helmet law and the lowering of valuation of agricultural land. Also failing was legislation to allow a lower minimum wage for students, changing habitual criminal provisions and prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Now that the session has finished, Senator Watermeier reminds constituents to continue to contact his office with questions and concerns.
Senator Watermeier will be in his office weekly. You may call his office at 402-471-2733. His e-mail address is dwatermeier@leg.ne.gov.
