KANSAS CITY, Kan.(AP)-A 16-year-old girl, reported missing from a foster care placement in the Doniphan County community of Wathena nearly 3-years ago, has died following a shooting in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Associated Press reports that Jamie Hernandez-Zubia was shot early Saturday morning, with her body discovered by police who responded to a report of shots being fired.
Police say she was shot when the occupants of two vehicles fired at each other.
Hernandez-Zubia was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Police are seeking a late '90's or early 2000's white Ford F-150 in connection to the shooting. Investigators believe the vehicle may have a bullet hole in the tailgate and tinted windows.
Hernandez-Zubia was reported missing from her foster care placement on June 9th, 2012.
