(KNZA)--Arrests are made in Hiawatha, and a vehicle seized, in connection with a homicide investigation that began in Nodaway, Iowa.
According to Kansas Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Doug Younger, his agency was notified by the Iowa Department of Public Safety's Division of Criminal Investigation that suspects related to the crime were believed to be in Hiawatha.
The two agencies converged on the city, leading to a highly visible search Friday that ultimately ended with two arrests.
Taken into custody were 41-year-old Jon Rubendall, of Hiawatha, and 39-year-old James Bost, of Corning, Iowa for the First Degree Murder of 44-year-old Allen Pafford.
A press release from the Iowa agency states that both men were currently residing in Hiawatha, with Rubendall's address listed as 703 Utah Street.
Belongings believed to be connected to Pafford were seized from the Hiawatha residence.
Both men are held on bonds of $1 million.
Pafford's mother discovered his body in a workshop near her Nodaway, Iowa residence on June 20th.
The criminal complaint alleges that Pafford died execution style, with a 9mm cartridge case and bullet found near his body.
It further states that Bost and Rubendall traveled to Iowa to find Pafford because he owed Rubendall $3,000 for drugs.
Local authorities assisted with Friday's arrests.
