(KNZA)--A few new details emerge regarding a Friday afternoon incident in Hiawatha.
It happened after 3:00 in the alley behind the Dew Drop Inn at 508 Oregon Street, when someone was left injured following an altercation.
It happened the same day that a search was launched for two men now jailed in connection with an Iowa murder. The two incidents were in no way related, according to Hiawatha Police Chief John Defore, following public speculation to the contrary.
One man was taken into custody as a person of interest, while another was transported from the scene by ambulance.
Defore says the case is currently under review for the possible filing of formal charges, but that has not yet happened, and no names are yet made public.
The original report made to police alleged that a gun was involved but no weapon was found or viewed by eyewitnesses interviewed at the scene.
