(KNZA)--An apparent moment of terror for a rural Mayetta woman when she discovers an unknown man in her home.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says it happened Tuesday afternoon around 3:15 when 25-year-old Scott Atchison, of Fort Riley, allegedly entered the woman's residence and approached her on the second floor. However, harm was avoided because he decided to flee, running down the stairs and out of the home.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office was alerted, and Morse says Atchison was caught while driving near 150th and U.S. Highway 75.
He was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on a charge of aggravated burglary.
Morse says Atchison was caught less than 15-minutes after he fled from the home.
