Bond Increased for Man Charged in Fatal Crash
07/15/2015

(KNZA)--The bond for a St. Joseph man charged with involuntary manslaughter in a fatal crash in January has been increased.

36-year-old Daniel Maddock asked a Buchanan County Circuit Court judge Tuesday to lower his $25,000 bond, citing his financial situation.  However, the St. Joseph New Press reports the judge said he felt it was too low considering the charge and raised his bond to $60,000.

St. Joseph Police say Maddock was driving a vehicle that ran a stop sign at 12th and Church Streets on January 3rd and struck another vehicle.  A passenger in his car, Richard Osborne, was killed.   Authorities allege Maddock was drunk at the time of the crash.

He suffered serious injuries and the driver of the other car, from Kansas City, was injured as well.

Maddock remains in the Buchanan County Jail.

He’s scheduled to make his next appearance in court July 24th.
