(KLZA)-- An October 21st jury trial has been set for a Shubert man accused of leading Richardson County authorities on a pursuit with two children in his vehicle.
36-year-old Lance Hays pleaded " not guilty" this week in Richardson County District Court to two felony counts of child abuse, two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle during time of suspension and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful display of plates.
Hays was arrested in May, a week after he was identified as the driver of a vehicle that accelerated away from a Richardson County Deputy Sheriff on a gravel road when the Deputy attempted to pull him over. At the time, the pursuit allegedly reached speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. Hays had two minor children, ages three and six in the vehicle with him during the pursuit, which was terminated because of the children being in the vehicle.
Bond was continued in the case.
