(KLZA)-- Richardson County Emergency Management Director Brian Dixon reported to the County Commissioners this week that radio communications for the Road Department and Sheriff’s Department are improving, but still not fixed.
Dixon said he has been working on the installation of a new dispatch system in the Sheriffs Office at the Courthouse. He said he is waiting on a information from a tech-person to solve why one aspect of the system is not working. Once completed Dixon feels that should eliminate the problem of officers being within radio range and not being able to talk to the dispatcher.
Dixon also noted he is still waiting on permission from the FCC to change the Road Department frequency that gets interference from Marshall County Kansas.
Highway Superintendent said that the prior day his radio equipment for grader operators and truck drivers was working well, but Tuesday morning communications were fuzzy.
Dixon also noted the power supply line has been installed to the Barada area tower site and he hopes to have electrical work completed soon so at least a temporary antenna can be installed to improve the situation.
