(KLZA)-- A September 1st arraignment date is now set for the former Village of Dawson Clerk accused of embezzlement during her time in that role.
32-year-old Jennifer Stutheit was scheduled to appear in Richardson County District Court this week, but the case was continued until the start of the new month.
She's facing six felony counts of second degree forgery, with five of the charges involving more than $1,000. The sixth charge alleges the amount taken was between $300 and $1,000. The forgeries allegedly occurred between October 28th, 2014 and April 8th, 2015. Sources told MSC News the alleged crimes occurred when Stutheit served as the Clerk.
Richardson County Public Defender Steven Mercure withdrew from the case due to a conflict of interest. Attorney Dylan Handley has been appointed to represent Stutheit.
