Holt Co Fair Launches This Week

(KLZA)-The annual Holt County, MO. Fair will begin in Oregon, Missouri on Wednesday, September 9th. This years theme is “Having Bushels of Fun.”

The four-day event begins with the Wednesday 4 p-m Baby Show on the bandstand. The prince and princess will be crowned following the 7 p-m displaying of the colors.  An ice cream social and pie contest will begin on the courthouse lawn at 7:30 p-m. The Senior Queen contest will be held at the bandstand at 8 p-m.

Day two of the Holt County Autumn Festival will find the opening of the exhibits to the public from 4 – 7 p-m. Events include the 4:30 p-m kids water fight, bingo at 5 p-m; the Inspirations Dance Group will perform from 6 – 7 p-m with the Junior Miss Festival Queen Contest at 7 p-m. The Junior Festival Queen contest will be held at 8 p-m.

Friday events will be highlighted by the 2 p-m Children’s Parade, followed by the Children’s field day events and watermelon eating contest. 3:30 p-m frog jumping,  Allison’s School of Dance performs from 5:30 – 6:30 p-m with the “Lyp Sync” contest at 7 p-m with division for 15 and under and 16 and older. The day ends with Family Theater Night at the stage. 

The exhibits are open from 10 a-m until 7 p-m. 

Saturday is the final day of the Holt County Autumn Festival and will begin with a 5K run at 8 a-m, beginning at the T.UJ. Hall Building. 

The junior pet show will be held at 9 a-m.;  The stock garden tractor pull will be held at 10 a-m; the exhibits are open from 10 a-m until 2 p-m. The Mic-O-Say Dancers will perform at 1:30 p-m and the General Parade will be at 2 p-m.  

A kiddie tractor pull will be held following the parade and the barbecue winner will be served from 5 – 6 p-m. The Ugly Woman contest will be held from 6:30 –7:30 p-m and the Phil Vandel Band will entertain at the grandstand beginning at 7:30 p-m.  

There will carnival rides Thursday through Saturday and other activities as well. 

If it rains, the program will be held at the South Holt School auditorium.
