(KAIR)--The Atchison Police Department is continuing to investigate reports of shots being fired in several areas of the city.
Police Chief Mike Wilson says the most recent reports came in late Saturday night. “There is always concern when you have reports of shots fired. We answered a number of calls over the weekend of shots fired. We have a number of leads that we are following as to those responsible for those, and we take them very seriously.”
There were also reports of shots fired on Friday afternoon, causing the Saint Benedict Catholic School to go into a short, precautionary lockdown. No property damage has been immediately discovered in any of the reported cases.
The city has been on edge since last Wednesday, when a 24-year-old was shot to death outside a convenience store. The shooter is in custody.
