(MSC News)--A former school paraprofessional at the joint Perry-Lecompton High School and Middle School is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a student.
WIBW-TV reports 57-year-old Michael Johnson was arrested Wednesday night by the Perry Police Department on three counts of promoting obscenity to a minor.
The Lawrence Police Department assisted in the arrest at Johnson’s home in Lawrence.
Johnson was hired by USD 343 in April 2012 as a vocal music accompanist.
Superintendent Denis Yoder told the TV station that they were made aware of the allegations on September 21st, and Johnson was suspended at that time. He was officially terminated at the USD 343 Board of Education meeting this month.
Johnson is currently free on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to make his first appearance in a Jefferson County courtroom on December 7th.
