Hiawatha Football Field Repairs Coming
10/30/2015

(KNZA)--A new sprinkler system will be installed at the Hiawatha High School football field.

Following a lengthy discussion at a special USD 415 Board of Education meeting Friday morning, Superintendent Penny Hargrove says the Board accepted a bid for the replacement of the current sprinkler system and re-crowning of the field for cost of about $37,000.

Hargrove told MSC News that the district hasn't  been able to water the field the last three weeks after pipes broke in two areas.  She said it’s the second time this year a pipe has burst.

Hargrove says it was decided that the current sprinkler system, installed in 1985, needs to be replaced completely to be done right.

She says the project will begin immediately and be conducted in phases.
