(KLZA)-- The Falls City, City Council voted 6-0 with Council members Judy Murphy and Anthony Nussbaum absent Monday night to forgive a HUD, EDI loan in the amount of $40,700 between the City and Grand Weaver Hotel as outlined in a memorandum of understanding.
Under the agreement the expenditures included replacement of all north and west windows of the 3rd floor of the Richardson County Bank & Trust building. Funds were also used for exterior painting on the building on the south side of 17th Street east of the alley and plumbing and electrical work in the new Falter Museum.
The Council denied a claim filed against the City by Dr. David Doerr for at least $55,000 in February due tot he alleged theft or loss of flight / maintenance logs on an aircraft he owns housed at Brenner Field in Falls City.
The appointment of Newton Simpson to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department was approved and the City Attorney was directed to create an ordinance to amend the fee schedule to animal licenses as recommended by the Management Committee.
The proposed fees are for license and taxes to total $21 annually for a male or female dog or cat; $11 for a neutered male or a spayed female. Currently the rates are $5 and $2.50 plus a dollar tax. Police Chief Duane Armbruster said State fees are increasing and the current fees have not been changed since 2008.
