11/03/2015

(KAIR)--The man accused of  the September shooting death of an Atchison man in the parking lot of an Atchison convenience store has been returned to Kansas.

Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman tells MSC News that 19-year-old Terell Dixon was extradited to the state from Missouri on Friday.

On Monday, he made an appearance in Atchison County District Court, where Leavenworth attorney Kevin Reardon was appointed to represent him. Reardon requested more time to review the case, and the judge set a status hearing for November 16th.

Due to security concerns, Dixon is being held at an undisclosed location on a $500,000 bond.

He was arrested in Henry County, Missouri about eighteen hours after he allegedly used a handgun to kill 24-year-old Winston Downing on the evening of September 9th.

Dixon was taken into custody in the Missouri location on an Atchison county district court warrant charging him with second degree murder.
He fought extradition back to Atchison County forcing the extended time line for his return.
