(KNZA)--A fiery, early Saturday morning Brown County Crash leaves one dead.
“Approximately 12:30, on 270th, west of Coyote, there was a report of a single vehicle injury accident,” Brown County Sheriff John Merchant tells MSC News. “When responders arrived at the scene, it turned out to be a fatality accident.”
The Kansas Highway Patrol identifies the victim as 27-year-old Cole Bergen, of Oreleans, Nebraska.
He was the driver of pickup truck that was eastbound on 270th Road when it crossed the roadway and went into the north ditch. The driver overcorrected, which sent the vehicle back across the roadway where it struck a tree, head-on. The vehicle flipped over, and caught fire, with Bergen trapped inside.
The fatal wreck happened about a mile east of U.S. Highway 75, or 2 miles east of Sabetha.
