Law Enforcement and Street Updates Presented to Pawnee City Council
10/14/2016

(KLZA)-- Pawnee County Sheriff Jayme Reed met with the City Council in Pawnee City Monday night.

Sheriff Reed informed the Council that she has been interviewing candidates for an open Deputy Sheriff position.  Reed said she has offered the job to one of the candidates and is waiting to hear back if the offer is accepted.

In other business this week the Council approved renewing the pasture lease at the city well site with Todd Albers.  Albers rents the 177 acres for $93.25 per acre, which brings in more than $16,500 annually to the city.

Council members were also reminded to the October 18th Town Hall meeting scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time. The meeting is to discuss the re-evaluated street study by JEO.  The company is proposing adding additional streets to the street improvement project. It would include 44 blocks under the proposal.

Pawnee City voters will decide during the November 8th General Election whether or not to approve an additional ½ cent sales tax to pay for the needed street repairs.
