Local FFA Members Compete in Agriscience Competition

Kansas FFA members from across the state competed in the state Agriscience Fair during the 91st Kansas FFA Convention,  May 29–31, 2019, on the Kansas State University campus.

The Agriscience Fair is a competition for Kansas FFA members interested in the science and technology of today’s agricultural sector. The Agriscience Fair awards are sponsored by Merck Animal Health and Pioneer.

Students can compete in the Kansas Agriscience Fair in one of six categories:

Winners in each category are as follows:

Animal Systems, Division 3: Sophie Bricker, Skyline FFA, 1st place; Tyler Wespe, Haven FFA, 2nd place; Brady Fowler, Fairfield FFA, 3rd place;  Garry Haskins, Fairfield FFA, 4th place.

Animal Systems, Division 4: Morgan Durbin, Fowler FFA, 1st place.

Animal Systems, Division 5: Kara Hays, Ellsworth FFA, 1st place; Wesley Denton, Valley Heights, 2nd place; Joaquin Velez-Prieto, Fowler FFA, 3rd place.

Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 3: Kendrick Edelman, Sabetha FFA, 1st Place.

Food Products and Processing Systems, Division 6: Alexus Messer and Chase Ahlers, Junction City FFA, 1st Place

Environmental and Natural Resource Systems, Division 1: Macey Homeier, Ellsworth FFA, 1st place.

Environmental and Natural Resource Systems, Division 5: Johnathan Hensley, Junction City FFA, 1st place.

Plant Systems, Division 3: Charlie Bestwick, Sabetha FFA, 1st Place; Erin Deters, Sabetha FFA, 2nd place.

Plant Systems, Division 4: Karina Rodriguez and Victoria Bryan, Hugoton FFA, 1st Place.

Plant Systems, Division 5: Frank Throckmorton, Junction City FFA, 1st Place.

Plant Systems, Division 6: Jurney Bird and Caleb Heinz, Fowler FFA, 1st Place.

Social Systems, Division 3: Ashlynn Shea, Junction City FFA, 1st place; Rachel Sebesta, Ellsworth FFA, 2nd place.

Social Systems, Division 5: Alexus Butler, Junction City FFA, 1st place; Kara Hays, Ellsworth FFA, 2nd place.
