Atchison Man Gets Small Jail Sentence and Presumptive Probation on Multiple Charges
A 34 year old Atchison man will get 60 days in jail and two years presumptive probation on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts.
Under Kansas sentencing guidelines, the sentence was handed down today (Friday) for Christopher Price.
He pled guilty last month to two counts of felony burglary, six misdemeanor counts of theft and a count of driving while suspended on incidents that occurred from November 2010 through September 2011.
Price was out on bond on those counts until last week, when he was arrested for allegedly interfering with a law enforcement officer.
The two year probation period was a suspended sentence for the burglary counts, which were 21 months and 12 months.
Those will run concurrent to one year suspended sentences on the misdemeanor thefts and driving while suspended, with the exception of one count.
For that, he will serve 60 days in the Atchison County jail.
He must pay 800 dollars in restitution in one count, as well as one thousand dollars in another count. Price has 23 prior convictions.
Another man involved in several of these cases, 52 year old Newton Colvin, will have sentencing on five felony theft cases on January 20th.
