The investigation is continuing into a Friday night railroad related accident that apparently left a man with a broken arm.
It happened in Hiawatha around 10:30 Friday night, at the crossing south of Iowa street, as cars were being switched.
The man, identified only as a railroad employee, somehow became trapped between cars, leaving him with the injury to his right arm. Hiawatha Police and the Brown County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene; and, upon discovering the victim, he was transported for local hospitalized treatment. However, it's reported that he was later flown by helicopter for further treatment at a regional hospital, but specifics of where he was taken are not immediately available.
While it's believed the man is an employee of Union Pacific, a spokesman from the railroad company did not have any details available regarding the accident as of Monday morning.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, with additional details likely to emerge as the probe moves forward.
