A White Cloud man charged with failing to register as a sex offender pleads guilty to a reduced charge.
Aaron Rudder pleaded guilty today ( Thursday ) in Brown County District Court to an amended charge of attempted failure to registered as a sex offender.
Sentencing was set for March 30th.
A jury trial in the case had been set to begin today ( Thursday ).
Last December a mistrial was declared after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision. A new trial date was then set.
Rudder was released from prison in Nebraska early last year after serving time for first-degree sexual assault involving a 6-year-old girl.
He registered as a sex offender in May and August with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department. However, authorities say he provided only his email address, and not his Facebook account.
Kansas state offender regulations require that social media site information be included with registration.
