A program is planned later this week to discuss what critics say is Missouri’s complicated fence law. The meeting will be held in the Jury Room at the Andrew County Courthouse, from 6:30 to 9:00 Thursday evening.
Bob Kelly, an Agricultural Business Specialist with the University of Missouri Extension says Missouri’s fence law is complicated in large part due to the fact that two separate laws cover the state depending on the county that ones land is in.
Another problem he says is that both laws are subject to interpretation and can be different depending on the county one is in. Kelly says landowners need to know what the law is in their county, and the program will help landowners better understand their rights and responsibilities.
The program will provide a comparison of both laws. University of Missouri Extension Ag Business Specialist Joe Koenen will present the program, which will be done via Adobe Connect, so attendees can see the presentation and ask questions.
To register for the program, contact Bob Kelly at the Buchanan County Extension Office at 816-279-1691.
