A longtime Hiawatha USD 415 teacher will be inducted into the Kansas Teachers’ Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame has announced that Robert “ Bob” Hankins is among the class of 2012 to be inducted on June 2nd.
Hankins served as a middle school science teacher in USD 415 for 36 years from August 1969 through May 2005. He also coached football, basketball and track during that time. In addition, Hankins served as middle school athletic director during the later part of his career.
The Teachers’ Hall of Fame was established in Dodge City in 1977. Since its inception, more than 367 exemplary educators have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Each year nominations are accepted from each of the twelve districts of Kansas.

The state selection committee met April 7th to review the candidates.
