Nemaha Central schools District #115 will see an increase in property, vehicle, general liability and workers compensation insurance for fiscal year 2013.
EMC Insurance representative Brian Schmitz told the board that insurance would increase across the board by about 15%. He said that no single claim was the cause of the increase, but is the result of the company wishing to remain financially stable and large disasters such as the Greensburg and the Joplin Tornado. The 15% increase represents a $20,000 increase in premiums.
The board approved the purchase of 10 mobile digital radios and a few hand held radios for the new school buses that the district has purchased. The radios will be purchased from Haug Communications in Seneca for just over $10,000.
In other business, Superintendent Darrel Kohlman informed the board that no one has expressed interest in filling the position left open by resignation of Position number 3 board member Duane Osborn. Kohlman said that he would welcome applicants for the position which is located in the south eastern area of Seneca.
