The Peru State football team dropped its home opener to 18th ranked Baker University Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats scored two second quarter touchdowns to take a 14-0 halftime lead and went on to post a 34-13 victory over the Bobcats at the Oak Bowl.
Ryan Ludlow had 60 yards on ten carries and two touchdowns to lead the Peru State offense. Quarterback Bo Shepard completed eight of 11 passes for 92 yards.
Peru State is now 1-1 on the year, and 0-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, while Baker is now 2-0.
The Bobcats are on the road next week. They travel to Canton, Missouri to face the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College. Culver-Stockton is 0-1 after losing their season opener, 28-17, at Graceland University Saturday.
