Peru State Cross Country Team Competes at Omaha
09/05/2012

(KLZA) The heat and humidity appeared to have an effect on all of the runners participating in the 2012 Creighton University/University of Nebraska Omaha Classic held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Chili Greens in Omaha.

Peru State College (PSC) senior Sarah Williams (Hiawatha, Kan.) cracked the top ten in the meet that included four NCAA Division I schools, PSC, and Iowa Western Community College.  Williams, the top runner outside of the NCAA DI schools, finished tenth with a time of 20:09.  Williams was less than ten seconds from finishing sixth.

Senior Danielle Prchal (Omaha) was the Bobcats' second runner finishing the course in 24:27.30, good for 50th.  Prchal was followed by senior Kesha Beethe (Tecumseh) – 55th in 24:57.40 and Danielle Aldrich (Daykin) – 60th in 29:37.6.

Kristen Penny, a freshman from Henderson, Nev., finished just behind Beethe at 56th in 25:21.90.  Penny ran unattached and should be cleared eligibility-wise for the next competition.
