(KTNC) - The Falls City Council breezed through its regular agenda in about 10 minutes Monday night.
In action taken during the meeting, the council gave favorable comment to a class one liquor license for La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, and a special designated liquor license to Richard Lemerond for an event at the Grand Weaver Hotel on October 26th.
No vote was taken on the matter Monday night, but a majority of the council indicated they’d support Lemerond’s application for a liquor license at 1502 Harlan Street. Lemerond told the council he plans to open a neighborhood bar at that location. (play audio :33)
Seven of the eight council members indicated they’d support the application. Second Ward Council member Judy Murphy indicated she’d probably not support the liquor license.
Also Monday, the Falls City Council accepted a bid from James Hersh to demolish the structure at 721 East 10th Street. His bid was for $5,290.
Council approved the appointment of Rod Vandeberg and Tony Brunette to the Citizen Advisory Review Committee.
Action was tabled on a request from the Weaver and Merz Law Firm to increase the hourly rate billed to the city to $120 an hour plus expenses.
Bob Meyer of Weaver and Merz told the council that the rate has been $65 an hour since Doug Merz was appointed City Attorney about 15 years ago.
Following the open session, council met in executive session to discuss personnel.
