(KNZA)--A local service group launches a fundraiser that aims to allow a city wide display of red white and blue on special holidays, but requires no work on the part of those who display the nation's flag.
It's happening in Hiawatha, where the local Kiwanis Club has launched a “U.S. Flag Project.”
Troy Boswell serves as co-chair for the effort(Play Audio)
Here's how it works: for 30-dollars, a 3-foot by 5-foot United States Flag, complete with pole and ground sleeve, will be placed at participating residents and businesses on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day(Play Audio)
Boswell says the project allows display of the flag, but alleviates the need for both the required work and storage(Play Audio)
The Kiwanis Club of Hiawatha U.S. Flag Project will be conducted yearly, meaning those who sign on for 30-dollars will receive an annual billing, allowing them to choose, at that time, whether to renew for another year.
