( KNZA )--A mid April opening is planned for a new national franchise hotel in Hiawatha.
Construction is nearing completion on the Best Western Plus Hotel located on East Lodge Road, just east of McDonald’s.
The city of Hiawatha last year approved the issuance of up to four million dollars in industrial revenue bonds for the project. The city also provided the property for the project.
The hotel’s developer, Raju Sheth of MITRA Development in Wichita, is providing $1.2 million in funding for the project.
The hotel will consist of about 50 rooms, a heated indoor pool and hot tub, and exercise facility. Rooms with kitchenettes will also be made available upon request.
Hiawatha Chamber Director Stacy Babb says they can’t take reservations yet until Best Western comes out to inspect, but they will have a phone line available soon where people can call and make reservations.
