( KNZA )-The Jackson County Commission has approved the purchase of a pair of mowers for the road and bridge department.
The commission this week accepted a bid from Murphy Tractor of Topeka for a New Holland tractor with a Diamond boom mower at a cost of $92,166 with no trade-in.
The commission also accepted a bid from KanEquip for a Landpride bat-wing mower at a cost of $11,850.
In other business, custodian Teresa Schiedegger informed commissioners the county received an “Outstanding Historical Preservation Award” during the annual meeting of the Kansas Main Street program in recognition of the work done for the Jackson County Courthouse.
Commissioners also went to the Banner Creek Reservoir to view the first slab of concrete poured last week for the new boat ramp and other areas at the Reservoir.
Banner Creek Supervisor Larry Holliday said the first slab of the ramp will be pushed into the water next week. The concrete had to cure for at least 7 days. Holliday will have the road and bridge crew push it in.
