(KAIR)--A popular Leavenworth restaurant, owned and operated by former Atchison resident Dustin Hundley, incurred damage following a Thursday night fire.
According to the Leavenworth Times, the fire was reported shortly before 11:30 at the Metropolitan Steakhouse, located at 1501 Metropolitan Avenue.
According the Leavenworth Fire Department, the fire began on the restaurant's back deck, and spread through an exterior wall into the building.
Firefighters, including those from Fort Leavenworth and Leavenworth County Fire District #1, extinguished the fire within 40 minutes.
The fire, which broke out while the restaurant was closed with no one inside, is estimated to have caused a total of $70,000 worth of damage.
The cause of the fire is not immediately known, with the State Fire Marshal's Office assisting with the investigation.
