(KTNC) - Two people were injured when their motorcycle hit a deer Tuesday evening. The accident occurred on southbound Interstate 29, five miles south of Mound City, at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
The Missouri State Patrol says 70-year-old Johnnie Long of Savannah, Missouri, was driving the 2012 Honda motorcycle, which struck the deer in the driving lane. The motorcycle overturned and both Long and a passenger, 72-year-old Rebecca Jones, also of Savannah, were thrown from the bike.
Both Long and Jones were taken by ambulance to the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph with what were described as serious injuries.
