05/23/2013

( KMZA )-The Nemaha County Sheriff is warning of a scam affecting Verizon cell phone customers.

Sheriff Rich Vernon says the scam works like this: a text message is received, telling the would be victim to call an included phone number for a direct express. When the customer calls, they are asked to provide a debit or credit card number.

Vernon says his office has received numerous calls today (Thursday) from Verizon customers who have received the text message.

Vernon, who calls the issue a scam, says no information, including credit card numbers, should ever be provided to an unsolicited offer.
