(KTNC) - A series of environmental education programs for area youth is planned this summer at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
Naturalists will conduct interpretive programs as part of the 7th Junior Naturalist series, on Thursday evenings from May 30 through July 25. The eight programs will be presented in the Refuge Headquarters and the Outdoor Classroom.
The first program, this Thursday, will focus on learning about the insects and mussels that inhabit the refuge. Other programs will focus on Ladybugs, butterflies, composting, and frogs and other marsh animals.
For more information about the programs, call Squaw Creek Refuge at 660-442-3187. The Refuge Headquarters will be open to the public from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. weekdays during the summer months. The Refuge’s 10-mile auto tour route and foot trails are open from sunrise to sunset for wildlife observation.
