( KNZA )-U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius has appointed Kickapoo Tribal Chairman Steve Cadue as an at-large representative on the Department of Health and Human Services Tribal Advisory Committee.

Chairman Cadue expressed his appreciation for the prestigious appointment and said he will work hard to help improve the health and well-being of all Native Americans.

Cadue said Native Americans are disproportionately disadvantaged when it comes to health care delivery and they are hopeful the work of Secretary Sebelius, HHS and the Tribal Advisory Committee can improve the quality of life and improve access to proper health care for Native Americans.

According to the Department of Health and Human Service’s website, the Tribal Advisory Committee was created in 2000 to “serve as the official first point of contact for Tribes, Tribal Governments, and Tribal Organizations wishing to access the Department of Health and Human Services.
