Lawsuit Filed by Family of Missing Peru State Student Dismissed

(KLZA) A Nemaha County, Nebraska District Court Judge has granted a motion to dismiss a lawsuit without prejudice filed by the family of missing Peru State College student Tyler Thomas.

The suit was filed against the State of Nebraska, City of Auburn, City of Peru, Nemaha County Nebraska, Nebraska State Colleges, the Nebraska Board of Regents and University of Nebraska. As a result of the ruling, the remaining defendants in the action are the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State College and Joshua Keadle.

Keadle was a student at Peru State College at the time to Thomas’ disappearance. Keadle is suspected of providing false information and tampering with evidence in the investigation, but no formal charges have been filed against him in this case.

LaTanya Thomas, Kevin Seman and LaTanya Thomas, personal representatives of the estate of Tyler Thomas filed suit following the disappearance of the 19 year old Tyler “Ty” Thomas on December 3, 2010. Thomas’ body has not been found. Authorities believe it may have been dumped in the Missouri River.

Keadle was convicted in 2012 of sexually assaulting a 15 year-old girl in Fremont in 2008 and was sentenced to 15 – 20 years in prison.
