(KNZA)--An accused murderer appears in a Jackson County Courtroom Friday morning; and, waiving his preliminary hearing, Lloyd Wabaunsee is bound over, with arraignment set for the morning of July 26th.

The 23-year-old Mayetta resident is charged with 2nd degree murder in connection with a January 19th shooting in Mayetta that left resident Kevin Stanley dead.

Wabaunsee is held in Shawnee County, remaining jailed on bond of $500,000.

Thursday, charges were dropped against the 37-year-old Topeka man that authorities say drove Wabaunsee to and from Stanley's residence at the time of the shooting.

Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says the charge of obstructing apprehension or obstruction could be refiled against Steven Eastman pending the future direction of the case.

Another Mayetta resident, Desiree Shopteese, had been charged with 2nd degree murder, but, in April, pled guilty to a lesser charge, and is now serving 18 months of supervised probation.

Two others connected to the case, 36-year-old Rachel Hudson, of Denison, and 29-year-old Topeka resident Aaron Lofton, are accused of being inside a car, located In Iowa days after the shooting of Stanley. It was in the trunk of that car that authorities say Wabaunsee and Shopteese were hiding.

Hudson has entered a guilty plea for her role, and was sentenced in March to 60 days in jail and 18 months of probation.

Lofton entered a no contest plea last month and is set to be sentenced on the morning of June 13th.
