( KMZA )--A multiple highway resurfacing project in Nemaha County has been moved back due to scheduling conflicts.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says the project, which was to begin Thursday , has been rescheduled to either Friday or Monday, weather permitting.
Beginning either Friday or Monday northbound and southbound K-178 will be reduced to one lane for both directions from the junction with U.S. 36 to St. Benedict. Intermittent closures of adjacent crossroads during the work hours are also likely.
Motorists will be directed by a pilot car, with delays up to 15 minutes to be expected, and alternate routes should be used if possible. The work will be conducted during daylight hours only.
Project work will also take place on: K-9 from the south K-63 junction to the north K-9/K-63 junction; K-63 from the Pottawatomie/Nemaha County line to the south junction of K-9; and K-236 from the junction of U.S. 36/K-236 to the south city limits of Oneida.
Crews will complete work on K-178, followed by K-236, then K-63 and finally K-9.
Hall Brothers Inc. of Marysville is the primary contractor on the more than $1.8 million project, which is to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting.
