( KNZA )-- A Jefferson County North teacher and coach received a Father’s Day present from his wife he’ll never forget. It wasn’t a tie or cologne – it was a lottery ticket worth more then $149,000.
Steven Noll was the sole jackpot winner in the Firecracker 50/50 drawing conducted Tuesday at Lottery headquarters in Topeka. The Nortonville couple came to Topeka Wednesday to claim the prize.
Noll teaches middle school history and computers in Jeff County North USD 339. He’s also the girls’ high school basketball coach. His wife, Donna, is the technology director for Atchison USD 409. The couple, who have four children, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last month.
Steven Noll says they will be using the prize money to help pay off some college loans. He says they also plan to give some to the church, do a few home improvements and put some money away.
The winning ticket was purchased at J & K’s Service in Nortonville.
