An accused murderer pleads not guilty to the crime.
That's the outcome of a Friday morning arraignment hearing held in Jackson County District Court for Lloyd Wabaunsee, charged with second degree murder in connection with the January shooting death of a Mayetta man.
Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller says Wabaunsee appeared in the court room, while his defense attorney entered the plea on his behalf.
A five day jury trial for Wabaunsee is now scheduled to begin on the morning of November 18th, in Jackson County.
He remains jailed on the charge.
The 23-year-old Wabaunsee, of Mayetta, is now the only person charged directly in connection with the fatal shooting of Kevin Stanley on January 19th, at Stanley's Mayetta residence.
Desiree Shopteese had faced the same charge until she instead pled guilty to the lesser charge of obstructing apprehension or prosecution in April.
Placed on probation, Shopteese is currently serving a 60 day Jackson County jail sentence for violating the terms of her probation.
