( KMZA )--A Nemaha County mother and son has been arrested in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 from a Bern business over the past 12 1/2 years.
According to the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department, 44-year-old John Schraad of Sabetha and 67-year-old Elizabeth Schraad of Seneca were arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the sheriff’s department into the theft from Lortscher Agri Service, where they were previously employed.
The crimes are alleged to have occurred between January 1st, 2001 and July 10th of this year.
County Attorney Brad Lippert says Elizabeth Schraad is charged in the theft of more than $100,000 from the business and John Schraad of more than $1,000.
John Schraad faces a charge of felony theft. He was released Wednesday on a 25-hundred cash bond.
Elizabeth Schraad faces charges of felony theft by deception and making false information. She was released Wednesday on a $100,000 surety bond.
Both are to appear in a Nemaha County courtroom on September 3rd.
