(KAIR)--After some discussion, the USD 409 school board in Atchison adopted a new budget for 2013-2014 during their meeting Monday night. Superintendent Susan Myers says the process was very thorough and detailed, but when it was all said and done, the budget produced was something that could satisfy everyone. The mill levy, which is something that board members, as well as taxpayers are interested in, remained steady, with little change from the previous year.
Several categories, including the cash balances in each fund and the philosophy of building the budget were discussed. Myers says that even though the general fund budget is $10,643,320 there are many factors weighing in such as federal money coming in. So some flexibility is needed and changes could be expected.
The budget passed with no opposition.
