Seneca Council Accepts Bid for Curb & Gutter Replacement
( KMZA )--The city of Seneca is preparing for this year’s curb and gutter replacement program.
The City Council last week accepted the low bid from Bryant and Bryant Construction of Halstead for the removal and replacement of more than 16-hundred feet of curb and gutter on various streets at a cost of $48,230. The bid also includes six handicap ramps. It was among three bids received
Mayor Joe Mitchell said the city had budgeted $60,000 for the program this year and suggested they increase the number of curbs and gutters to be replaced to bring the bid up to $60,000. The council agreed.
City Superintendent Brian Ruske will determine where the other work will take place.
In other business, the council approved the second payment request from Hall Brothers of Marysville for work done on the Branch Street Extension project. The payment is for nearly $347,000.
The project is slightly behind schedule due to several rain days earlier this season.
A request for funding was received from Nemaha County United 4 Youth---an organization working to prevent alcohol abuse among youth in the county.
The council was told the organization has lost one of the two federal grant they had been receiving.
The council agreed to provide funding to the organization, but will not make a decision on the amount to be donated until their next meeting on September 4th.
