Pawnee City Council Reviews Final Draft of City Budget
08/28/2013

City Hall - Pawnee City

(KTNC) - The Pawnee City Council got a look at the final draft of the next fiscal year’s budget Monday night.   Auditor Julie Bauman was at the meeting, and City Clerk Tammy Stephens says things went well as Bauman presented the final budget document, levy and valuation numbers.  (play audio   :20    “15-hundred dollars.”)
Stephens says next year’s budget is “very balanced” as the city prepares for future expenses.  (play audio  :26    “for that.”)
Pawnee City has recently completed upgrades to its water and wastewater treatment plants, so Stephens says they’re budgeting for expenses for those facilities, and paying back USDA loans.
The council set the budget hearing for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9.
Also Monday, Alan Richard with the Pawnee City Development Corporation met with the council regarding a possible TIF project and annexation, though Stephens says they don’t yet have all the details.  (play audio  :33   “for us.”)
In other action, the Pawnee City Council approved a one-year agreement with the Village of Steinauer to provide kenneling services.
And the council approved letters of resignation from Ray Kappel from the Planning Commission and Don Jacobs from the Library Board.  Both organizations are looking for new members to fill those vacancies.
