(KAIR)--The city of Wathena is gearing up for its annual fall festival set to take place this weekend, starting Friday night and wrapping up around 8:00 Sunday night.
Kay Hewins is part of the committee that has been planning the event, and she says there are a wide range of events planned, that everyone can enjoy, including musical performances from the Bridgewater Trio and the Phil Vandel Band. There will also be line dancing lessons, a tractor show, and a senior art show.
There is one event that is new to the festival this year, and Hewins thinks that it will be a very competitive one. For the first time, there will be a men's horseshoe throwing competition Sunday morning after church at 11:00. Hewins hopes that the turnout for this tournament is good so they can continue in the coming years.
Other activities that will be taking place during the festival include a greased pig race and a peddle tractor pull for the kids, with both events having proved to be popular from past festivals.
