(KAIR)--Major Nidal Hasan, sentenced to death Wednesday following panel deliberations lasting less than two hours at Fort Hood, Texas, is now held at Fort Leavenworth's United States Disciplinary Barracks for post-trial confinement.
Hasan was sentenced by a military court for the shooting rampage he committed at Fort Hood in 2009. His pay and allowances have been forfeited, and Hasan was dismissed from military service as part of the sentence.
The American-born Muslim never denied being the gunman, saying that he committed the shooting to protect Islamic insurgents abroad from American aggression.
