Jail Committee Appointed by Richardson County Commissioners

 (KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners appointed a 10 person “Jail Committee” when they met Tuesday.  The committee will help assess the need for a new jail facility in Richardson County.

Appointed to the committee were Ray Joy, Ken Arnold, Jerry Duerfeldt, Phil Bletscher, Katelyn Kennedy, Mark Joy, Charlie Fiegener, June Bowers, Jake Ankrom and Commissioner David Sickel who will serve as chairman of the committee.

Commissioners are studying a proposal for an addition to the Armory building on the west edge of Falls City that would hold 24 prisoners.

In other business Commissioners voted to approve the proposal with the Road and Bridge Department Union for a two-year contact beginning July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2015 with a 2.75 percent salary increase each year.  An additional half-day of holiday for Christmas Eve when the holiday occurs on a weekday was also approved.  

Board members also approved advertising for sealed bids for the Courthouse Renovation Project to be received and opened Tuesday, October 1st at 11 a-m.
