(KNZA)--The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation has been awarded a nearly quarter-million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist in the development of affordable housing opportunities.
The announcement of the $249,430 grant comes from HUD’s regional office in Kansas City, Kansas.
Indian communities, such as the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation near Mayetta, can use the funding for a variety of housing activities including new affordable housing or providing upgrades to existing housing developed under the Indian Housing Program.
Funds also can be used for crime prevention and safety measures.
