(KNZA)--A former Sabetha man will stand trial on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child.
Christopher Sperling waived his preliminary hearing Monday and was bound over to Nemaha County District Court on the felony charge. Arraignment is scheduled for September 26th.
Sperling was arrested in January by the Sabetha Police Department.
He also faces felony counts of trafficking contraband into a correctional facility and conspiracy to commit aggravated escape from custody in a separate case. A preliminary hearing in that case is set for September 17th.
Authorities allege Sperling and another inmate, Baileyville resident Eugene Ackerman conspired between March 6th and June 5th to escape from the Nemaha County Jail. A number of shanks were found during an inspection of the jail by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department on June 5th.
