(KTNC) - Those looking for seasonal or part-time work might want to try the Missouri Department of Transportation. As winter approaches, MoDOT officials say maintenance facilities in all 20 counties in the Northwest Missouri area are hiring seasonal and emergency workers.
District Engineer Don Wichern says they need short-term maintenance workers to help keep roads safe and in good condition this winter.
MoDOT will hold a job fair from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Northwest District Office, located at 3602 North Belt Highway in St. Joseph.
Those applying for emergency or seasonal maintenance equipment operator positions can fill out an employment profile prior to the job fair by visiting www.modot.org/jobs. The profile can also be filled out on laptop computers that will be available at the job fair.
Anyone interested in an appraiser position with the Right of Way Department is also encouraged to attend the job fair.
Seasonal workers are hired for regular 40-hour workweeks for six months, up to 1,040 hours. Emergency workers are hired as on-call positions for six months, in 12-hour shifts either days or nights and weekends, based on need for weather conditions. A high school diploma or GED is required for both positions. A commercial driver’s license is preferred, but not mandatory.
Those who cannot attend the job fair, but who are interested in applying for a position, can visit their local maintenance facility or visit the Department of Transportation’s website for more information.
